Customer Engagement: Braze enables us to have personalized campaigns across multiple channels, boosting engagement and conversions. Retention and Loyalty: Segmentation and automation tools help us to re-engage users and foster loyalty. Data-driven Insights: With built-in analytic tools, they provide us with real-time performance tracking and optimizing marketing strategies based on customer behavior. Cross-channel Coordination: We can now orchestrate consistent messaging across email, mobile, and web channels for a seamless customer experience.
  • Email Marketing
  • Push Notifications
  • User Journeys
  • Rename Content Blocks
In terms of usage, we leverage Braze across multiple teams within our organization, including marketing, customer success, and product development. From acquisition campaigns to onboarding sequences to post-purchase communications, Braze plays a central role in our customer lifecycle management strategy. Additionally, we integrate Braze with other tools and systems in our tech stack, such as CRM platforms and data analytics tools, to create a unified ecosystem that drives efficiency and effectiveness in our marketing efforts.

Braze allows us to easily setup, measure and optimize multi channel journeys and campaigns throughout different customer lifecycles.
  • Journey orchestration
  • Campaign content builder
  • Experimentation
  • Analytics - Not all events are passed via API
  • Campaign builder - Difficult to collaborate on the same campaign as it may create conflicting versions
  • Dashboarding - There's no way to build dashboards within Braze
Easy to use canvas journey builder, yet packed with various features which give the user setting up the journey both: (1) control over the audiences and journey flow and (2) ability to concurrently run experiments.

I like Braze, but like most CRM/CEP tools, it has a very specific use-case that isn't universal. It works particularly well for companies that have a robust app and want to collect data across both app and website and perhaps even other points of engagement. If that fits your use-case, Braze is likely a great tool for you. Otherwise, there are likely better tools to consider.
  • App Data Collection
  • Engagement
  • Profile Building and Organization
  • Improved customer service experience
  • Improved training/education
Braze is likely at its best for companies that engage with customers on both an app-level and web-level. It gets even better if you have the opportunity to leverage some of the additional channels Braze unlocks such as in-app messages and content cards.

If you're only using Braze to send SMS and Email and the occasional push, you're likely better off finding a cheaper platform.

Braze organizes its analytics in a very odd way in my experience, so I'd also recommend pairing Braze with a secondary reporting tool of your choosing.

I primarily use the Braze platform to manage and enhance my customer engagement and introduce some automation and analytic metrics to the overall process. Braze is easy to setup and work with, can be integrated into your applications with ease. UI/UX is good and there is plenty of documentation for all of its features. Overall the visibility and insight it gives of our customers is invaluable to us.
  • Excellent data metrics, analytics and reporting
  • Allows you test and experiment with A/B testing
  • Provides a high level of automation once all configured
  • Needs more customization options for the dashboards
  • While easy to use there is an initial learning curve before you become comfortable with it
  • Report generation is sometimes slow
If you do not have any kind of customer engagement platform in place and need greater insight to your customers journey then Braze is a really good start with, a simple initial configuration can be scaled up to something more complex in the future, it will grow with you. If you aren't too tech savvy you may have trouble with more advanced integrations that are available.

As a real estate company we need to have a steady communication strategy with our clients to ensure that we are reducing churn and maintaining them informed about updates in our products or in their contracts. We do that by structuring our strategy in the Canvas feature on Braze, which ensures that we have a cohesive flow of communications. The tool also provides us with all the data needed, such as results of A/B testing, various rates (opening, spam, clicks, etc).
  • Results reporting
  • Integrated communication
  • A/B testing
  • Overall UI and UX - screens are a bit crowded
  • Improve integration with other tools
  • Increase creative options when structuring each communication design
Braze is very well suited if you need to create a campaign/strategy that relies on multiple channels - email, MMS, push, etc. Also, its A/B testing setup is very intuitive and easy to check its results.
If you have a junior team on your company you might have a hard time with the tool, since I see that the interface is a bit crowded - the learning curve might be slower that you'd imagine.

We lacked a comprehensive platform to manage Customer engagement with our applications. Braze serves as a means for us to market to customers and allows for an all-in-one solution to keep in contact with them via emails, SMS, and push notifications. This means we can set up campaigns and targets more easily than before.
  • Campaigns
  • Ease of adjusting emails.
  • Push notification management.
  • Integration with mobile platforms for push notifications.
  • Support through things like Discord would be amazing for developer support.
If you need a platform to manage customer's contact information or a solution to manage campaigns so you can target specific customer groups, I think Braze excels at that. Once you get over the technical hurdles, Braze has a fantastic management suite for sorting out campaigns. The fact you can run A/Bs as well is excellent.

We use Braze as our multi-channel marketing tool, sending emails, push notifications & SMS. The tool helps keep all our customer data in one place and easily communicate with these customers. The speed and automation of the tool have helped a small team manage many campaigns and tests.
  • Email marketing.
  • Data ingestion.
  • Push Notifications.
  • Audience management.
  • Advanced filtering to create segments.
  • Analytics - looking at customer-level data to investigate issues.
For real-time data ingestion using SDKs, Braze is second to none. It can collect large amounts of data and use these with hardly any processing time. This makes marketing a dream!

We use Braze to house all of our user data and send targeted emails and push notifications using multiple data points to allow for segmentation.
  • User support
  • Ease of implementation
  • Currents and segmentation
  • Better analytics
  • Better understanding of ambiguous data points
  • Quicker results with better accuracy
Braze is great for targeted messaging and housing data from various sources.
Not sure when it would be less appropriate unless someone is looking for a very, very basic CRM platform for email marketing perhaps.

We use Braze to manage our communications to leads and customers across multiple channels, including email, direct mail, SMS, and app messages. We initiated a move to Braze to allow us to create personalized emails at scale with automation capability that could free the marketing team to test and iterate without needing to take up developer resources. Setting up Braze for email allowed us to expand into other channels.
  • Custom setup to get the tool to work for your business
  • Continually updating and improving
  • Cross channel integration is easy
  • Could improve reporting and analytics tools
  • Could improve customer service, as they've grown the customer service hasn't quite kept pace
I've been using Braze at multiple companies over the last few years and have seen how they've been at the forefront of their field and continue to grow and improve. They continue to release new tools and products and are committed to helping their customer's be successful. It's customizability means the ownership is on you to make it work to the best of it's ability, but the best part of that is you can make it into what you need. They built everything instead of acquiring it, so it works together seamlessly instead of feeling hacked together like some of the bigger platforms that grew through acquisition.

Braze allows for all Marketing to be done in the same place using many touch points, including Email, SMS, Push, and in app Content Cards & Newsfeeds. The Canvases and Campaigns available will allow any user to create the right path for every type of customer. The segmenting feature is critical in pinpointing the ideal customer to receive the correct Marketing content. The Braze Learning and Documentation in Resources is crucial to supporting the creation of campaigns and troubleshooting issues. Lastly, the speed of Braze Support response after ticket submission allows the team to quickly resolve issues so we never miss an opportunity to engage with our customers.
  • Braze positions itself to ingest all pertinent customer data (attributes, demographics, etc.) that is then easily accessible to be used to target customer segments
  • By having all customer data in a centralized place, it allows for quick campaign and canvas setup
  • The metrics and statistics readily available for all customer communications make identifying issues quick.
  • The Canvas view made adjusting the many steps in a canvas slightly complicated. Thankfully, Braze has now migrated over to Canvas Flow tool, which simplifies the entire Canvas creation process.
Braze is top notch for creating custom paths for customers that keep them engaged throughout their journey with the product or company. The product provides ways to exit the customer when necessary and ways to re-engage after periods of inactivity. Allowing the addition of custom events and attributes provides individualizes the customer journey further.

We use Braze for our email marketing/marketing automation needs. We use the event-based triggers and custom attributes for segmenting and sending our emails.
  • Event-based triggers
  • Drag and drop email editor
  • Canvas (program/journey) builder
  • User friendly interface
  • Lead scoring
  • Analytics Api and exports
  • No visible user database
  • User profile attributes and events
Braze is a powerhouse for event-based marketing via push, in-app, and email. Braze also has SMS capability.

Braze is being used to engage our users with our brand, to improve app-engagement, conversion events and to deliver relevant communication to the right customers at the right time. It has been used as a campaign tool to connect our social media and news site to the app, while also serving as a way to make inbound marketing possible on our current website, as our endgoal is to get users engaged to the app.
  • Segmenting our user base, in terms of their portfolio/location/user behavior
  • Making comprehensive and easy customer journeys using canvas
  • Enabling A/B testing in every step of the way
  • It offers analytics insights, but this is still not incredibly detailed
  • It takes a while for features on the product roadmap to be implemented
  • The drag-and-drop editors of their marketing channels (Email & IAM) could use some improvement in terms of more functionality and tweaking abilities
Braze is incredibly well suited for getting users engaged while enabling them to perform key conversion events to complete their journey within our app. This process is made very simple using the canvas feature in braze, that enables you to send different message types at different times in their journey, and segmenting users in the flow based on their actions in the app.

Braze is less suited when you try to connect external, out of app situations to the app. For example, to update a users preferences, a preference center is available but this one still lacks in customization, and it is not that user friendly to get outside data into braze and get it to seamlessly work within the environment.

We use Braze to manage and deliver all our app communications, including Push, InApp, Content Cards, SMS, and Email. Our main objective with Braze is to increase user engagement by delivering intelligent and easy-to-set-up communications from the Product and Marketing teams.
  • Omnichannel communication orchestration.
  • User segmentation mixing demographics and app events.
  • A/B Tests: it is easy to define testing groups and to check the results
  • Global Control Group to measure the impact of CRM activities as whole.
  • A better way to keep track of traditional CRM metrics for the whole account (not for a specific campaign). For example, it is easy to see the Open Rate for a campaign, but it is not that easy to see the average Open Rate for the account by week or month.
  • More depth in the general results. Braze is not good at showing business and general metrics in a macro way. That is why we need to plug two solutions to solve this: Looker/Tableau to see business metrics impacted by our Braze campaigns, and Amplitude/GA to better check user funnels and app events.
Braze is the go-to solution for businesses that offer its services and products through apps. It is a comprehensive tool that will provide you with an easy and quick way to orchestrate conversion and engagement communications and tests. Both product and marketing teams will be able to deliver amazing InApps and Notifications without any help or supervision from tech teams and developers (tech help is needed for implementation and tool evolution only). Braze can also deliver messages to websites and through web push, however, if you do not own an app, I may suggest you pursue other CRM tools.

Braze is our main communications tool and we have built all of our communications strategies on it. We carry out the construction of the life cycle of our users and find moments to strengthen and build engagement strategies. It is a very complete tool that allows you to integrate several products and centralize all kinds of technologies.
  • Is constantly improving all its features.
  • Cares a lot for the final user and its usability, in my case I'm constantly getting asked about feedback to improve several features.
  • Is really easy to use, and the documentation and LAB are really helpful if you are starting with Braze.
  • Has a strong community, where anyone can ask everything and other peers can contribute.
  • The reporting is still very premature and basic, I know they're working on it.
  • Maybe little things that they're aware like the incapability to change active steps in canvas.
  • They're working on several templates to help the customization of all channels, but this has been a little bit slow and of course, it depends on which priorities they have.
Well suited: Build several workflows with logic, decisions, and complex functioning.
Less appropriate: maybe for managing leads for enterprises, definitely this tool is for customer engagement of new, current and previous users but to evaluate leads I don't see it.

[It's being used for] All marketing communications across email, push, in-app messages, and SMS texts.

It is being used by the marketing department. It allows us to target retention, education, up-sell opportunities, and compliance communications.
  • Personalized customer journey
  • Consolidation of marketing tools to bring multi channel communications under one roof and allowing each of them to talk to each other.
  • The Braze community. This not only helps with idea generation, but makes a great place to network and grow your team.
  • The Customer Success team is world class. They reply to anything and everything we send them promptly and with actual answers.
  • Mobile experience for the Braze dashboard
  • Simplification of liquid logic for non-technical users
  • Improvement to reporting metrics with detailed graphs. Creating something in the dashboard would save us the resources spent on hiring analytics managers and piping the data to Tableau.
The Braze product is honestly best in class when it comes to creating a personalized experience for your users. The area that really sets them apart is the team that comes with it. I've never received the level of direct support from any other company like I have with this team. Having access to customer success managers and access to other marketers within the Braze community has made the difference when building out and scaling my team as well.

Almost every metric related to the user life cycle - activation, engagement, conversion, reactivation, etc. Braze is a super helpful tool. It helped me to create lots of segmentations and give the best experience for all of the different types of users that we have. For example, we can create different groups of users and we can send different and localized push notifications and also different subscription offers.
  • Push Notifications.
  • In-app messages.
  • Conversions dashboards.
  • Automated inbox messages.
Braze is well suited for those who have a large userbase with people from different countries, speaking different languages and having different purchase behaviors.

The CRM team is using Braze to communicate with all of our audiences through multiple app groups using email, IAMs, push, SMS, and webhooks. Braze has enabled our CRM team to build and test robust, personalized, real-time user journeys without ongoing support from product/engineering.
  • Usability - If you are experienced with ESPs, Braze is simple and straightforward to learn after an initial exploration into the tool.
  • Tooling, Products, and Features - Braze is a robust tool that enables my team to build complex lifecycle marketing programs without needing support from product/engineering. We can easily target users with email, push notifications, in-app messages, webhooks, SMS, and more all in one place.
  • If there is ever a product that is missing/could be improved, the Braze team will listen to our needs and incorporate suggestions into their product roadmap.
  • Customer Service - The Customer Success team is so responsive and helpful - some of the best I've ever worked with. They will provide suggestions, feedback, workarounds (if needed), and recommendations to improve your efficiency and strategy. I'd highly recommend a CSM as well.
  • Better reporting and analytics built within Braze. We do a lot of exporting of data to outside tools for analysis.
  • UI improvements such as foldering/organizational structure instead of just a tagging system.
  • Load times for canvases that are very complex (though I've been told this improvement is coming soon).
If you use an omnichannel marketing approach across digital products and want to reach your users with real-time, personalized messages (email, in-app, push, SMS, webhooks, etc) then Braze is suited for you. If you're just doing straightforward email marketing without much testing or personalization, you can probably find cheaper products that fit your needs.

Braze is being used as the primary platform that we use to communicate with our different audiences. It's being used to fulfill communication needs for all departments in the company but managed by the CRM team.

Braze is an extremely robust tool with a short learning curve. Building out new lifecycle strategies and campaigns was extremely simple. While there are a lot of functionalities, no CRM/ESP service will ever have every feature that all of their competitors have. Braze does a great job with listening to their customers and adding new features onto the roadmap.

  • Building out new lifecycle strategies and campaigns was extremely simple.
  • Braze does a great job with listening to their customers and adding new features onto the roadmap.
  • Moving data into and out of Braze has been a challenge.
  • Braze's reporting function is still a work in progress.
Braze (formerly Appboy) is well suited to nurture and build experiences that involve multiple channels (in-app messages, SMS, email, push notifications). If your needs are fulfilled simply with email and your company does not have an app counterpart, it would make sense to consider another CRM platform that is more cost effective.

Braze is used by our marketing team to reach users across different platforms (email, app, push). It has helped us better segment our users, as well as add in personalization. Lastly, it's given our marketing team tools to analyze the effectiveness of each campaign we launch.
  • Customer service and reliable reps.
  • Good documentation for you to self learn the tool. Braze is complicated, but they have resources (in addition to human customer service) designed to help you learn.
  • Integrations - We integrate Braze with Simon Data, which is a huge help.
  • The UI can be difficult to figure out. It's hard to sort current campaigns from past ones. You can't delete campaigns.
Braze is incredibly helpful for companies reaching users on many different platforms. It's also helpful for personalization. That being said, for a company launching a simple newsletter, it's probably not necessary.

Braze delivers great value to the company when it comes to defining granularly targeted audiences based on user behavioral data tracked in Segment for nurturing users with in-browser pop-up message campaigns and email campaigns. In addition to the Segment integration, Braze does a good job with Amplitude integration as well for a deeper dive into the Braze interaction data alongside the every day data the company is tracking on digital clients. We leverage Braze across product teams with a digital offering experience (both hybrid cloud & on-prem), as well as beginning to scale out across geographies and markets for more granular campaigning.
  • Braze support team continues to demonstrate strong expertise and prompt follow-ups on our technical inquiries and debugging assistance as incidents arise.
  • Braze offers a great variation of integrations with tools such as Segment and Amplitude to digest all the data companies are currently tracking on digital clients and analyze those data points in a common environment alongside all Braze interaction events.
  • Braze offers great flexibility in targeting and delivery criteria for campaigns, as well as sets a good standard in thinking about conversion events / success factors for campaigns.
  • The target users tab in Braze does not provide optimal granularity in identifying targeted audiences. The way our company tracks data on users requires us to target audiences with multiple event properties tied back to events.
  • The canvas in-app feature Braze offers does not allow for delivery in specific apps. For a company such as IBM that offers a variety of products and services implemented with Braze, this feature does not serve value and cannot be used.
  • Braze offers A/B testing with multiple variables but they don't expose the variant IDs in the UI of the braze campaign analytics dashboard. This prevents us from easily analyzing the variants of campaign in Amplitude.
  • Great for nudging users to gain a more valuable experience in the UI of the product with in-app messages.
  • Great for preventing churn with emails.
  • Great for experimenting and A/B testing content in nurture campaigns.
  • Great for targeting users effectively based on Segment instrumented data.
  • Great for analyzing data in Amplitude post campaign launch to see interaction data alongside segment data.

I am a demand gen marketer using Braze to nurture marketing prospects exclusively through in-app messages, as we use a proprietary marketing automation tool to send emails.
  • Braze is good at managing multiple campaigns simultaneously. It is easy to draft, start, stop, modify, restart, and archive campaigns — the interface is attractive, and the campaign creation/management process is pretty intuitive.
  • Targeting options are very sophisticated. Braze uses both event and analytics data from our offerings to let us choose the exact cohort we want to hit. Delivery triggers are similar, but depending on the instrumentation of the offering our delivery timing may not be optimal (we rarely get this right on the first pass.)
  • One limitation is that once campaigns are launched, Braze does not allow changing conversion events. They do this to maintain data integrity, but in many of our use cases, this does not make sense. However, it is still fairly simple to copy the campaign and then change the conversion event and relaunch. This does mean that we have to sum data to fully see results.
Braze is useful in scenarios where the business use case is well defined and instrumentation is in the maturity/complete stage. Overall Braze has a lot of functionality, and can serve as a one-stop-shop for marketing automation. But because I work for a large company, we have yet to fully adopt Braze, as we have other tools that are better integrated with our existing systems and processes.

Appboy powers our push notifications. It is used by both the mobile app team for open rate analysis, but is primarily supported by the editorial team, who curate the messages sent to our users.
  • Push notifications - allows for flexibility in message and content.
  • Custom event reporting - set events in the app code that triggers when certain criteria is met.
  • Segmentation - using user behavior to better target messaging based on what they engage with in-app.
  • Optimization - provide suggestions for messaging based on experience of past campaigns.
  • Allow for greater flexibility in segmentation dimensions.
  • Reduce latency in reporting - real time or concurrent user data would be useful.
Appboy provides the most value in allowing multiple teams with different goals and technical experience to collaborate with one product. The editorial team is comfortable creating our messaging, while another team can seamlessly dive into the data and create segments of the users who will be seeing the targeted message. After a campaign is complete, it is easy to look back through the performance and make adjustments for future messaging.
